 | Fine Art Prints by Manuel Franco | | About The Artist - Manuel S. Franco paints photo-realistic watercolors, oils and pastels. He has considered himself an artist since the age of five. Inspired by his mother’s artistic work in glass, he has been painting ever since.
His varied interests result in a wide range of subjects including cowboys and Indians, but he is best known for his Southwestern art. “I plan on doing more native art because my Indian/Mexican background leads me in that direction. My great-great grandmother was a full-blooded Apache.”
Originally from a small town in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, Manuel received his degree in mining and metallurgy from the University of Chihuahua. Manuel decided to dedicate himself to his first love - his art. He moved to Dumas, Texas, a small town in the Texas Panhandle, where he presently maintains his studio.
During the past several years Manuel’s work has gained national popularity. He has a number of limited edition prints and posters. Well known artists like Amado Pena, Ed Morgan and Daryl Howard know and respect his work.
“I always drew and painted. I loved it, thought is was fun, but I never expected to make a living at art. There just wasn’t a chance for an artist in Mexico, but there’s a big market in the United States. Still it took a while where I could support myself as a full-time artist.”
